Ok I am going to make this a quick how-to since it is fairly easy and quick to do so here goes.

On a lot of newer cars the parking lights and such are painted with a clear protective coating. With these clear coated lights you cant just go by my other how-to to get them looking new again. If your parking lights are clear coated you will have a completely different job ahead of you to get them refinished. so here goes.

Heres the lights we are starting with. Please note that the one on the top is 90% through the refinish job and the one on the bottom has yet to be started.

Another view and the one on the left is the one that is almost finished. You can really sEe a difference in this pic.

And a final view where the one on the right is the one that is almost finished.

Ok now lets get started. I will be starting by taking a razor blade and scraping off the teal paint that is on the light from a prior paint job where they just taped up the lights. Here is what will basically look like after you scrape off the paint. This step can be skipped if you don’t have the over spray on the lights as I do.

Ok next we wet sand the light down with 400 grit wet sand paper.

Next we dry and clean off the light. It will have that sanded hazy look but thats ok.

Ok now we have the hard part finished so its time to finish up. Now we use clear spray paint and lightly coat the light. The paint may look cloudy but it will clear up as it drys. Remember a few light coats is better than a heavy coat when it comes to painting.

And then we have the finished product.

Its that simple. I would say this saves me from having to buy another set of lights but I already did that. So this set is now up for sale since I don’t need them. I just figured i would make them look as close to new for the next owner. (And lets not forget so I could make this how-to for you all.)
