The History of Low Class Car Club
Low Class C.C. started back in 1991. I donno if you could really call it a club or not. We were just a bunch of wanna-be’s hanging out on Preston Hwy. in Louisville, Kentucky. Our cars started out stock, and with very little money the rides that we loved were not so cool to say the least.
Out of the whooping three members there was only one put any work into his ride. That of corse was myself, Joe Claxon. No I didn’t have more money than the others. I just wanted to be “cool”. All the worked performed on my car was done by myself and once in a great while my friends. The end result was a car with alot of medocar mods. But i learned how to do one thing for sure, and that was to really mess up. With all the errors I found out alot of “how not to” things. This made me redo alot of stuff, and in time i learned how to do things the right way with very little cash.
It wasn’t long before our petty little car club was a faint memory, but it always lived on in my heart. In 1996 a friend named Allen and I were talking about old times. Allen brought up the club and said we should get it going again. I was all for it. Next thing i knew was we had 15 members. Then i noticed Allen was overding himself with the club. Now this wasn’t a bad thing. We had a club newsletter, club shirts, a web site, dash plaques, business cards, membership forms, trip aproval forms (for our members whome were under 18) for out of state shows, membership cards, membership certificates, and much more. The only problem with this was it was all done by Allen. For some reason I was not doing much of anything for the club. It didn’t take long before the club was just another memory.
Jan. 2002 I approched Allen about buying his truck. Now i had asked the same question a couple dozen times before. Always with the same “I don’t think so” responce. This time he suprized me by saying “yes”. I was in shock. Shortly after this i had the only vehicle to ever have it’s photo ran in club history. I ran right out and had a new club decal made up after weeks worth of design work on my part. Next was a system. then some minor body work and interior work. Wow the club was back and two members strong, my wife Connie and myself.
After a while I met Erik. He had just bought a 93 Probe and had a system installed. Connie and i had just bought a 94 honda delSol and i had already done some work to it. I was very proud to show it off to erik. shortly after i started helping Erik fix his own ride up. I decided to tell Erik about the club i use to run. and asked him if he would like to help out getting it started again. He was a little unsure at first but decided it would be cool.
around the end of 2004 i closed up the club for the final time. at this point there will not be a comeback for the club. we have had our good times and out bad times. it was fun while it lasted. maybe one day my son will start the club back up but thats many years from now. until them i will host this site and continue to post my how-to’s and automotive information along with random babbling.
